Alexander Gebauer, MD, PhD

Dr. Gebauer has more than 30 years industry experience in research and development and has been part of teams responsible for numerous approvals worldwide in several therapeutic areas. He served as CEO and Chairman at the US company, Omeicos Ophthalmics Inc, and as CDO and Managing Director of its Germany-based sister company, Omeicos Therapeutics. He has held C-level positions at leading global pharmaceutical firms, including Sun Pharmaceuticals, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Ltd and Merz Pharmaceuticals. During his time at Merz, he served as CSO and Senior Vice President, Head of Global Research & Development and was directly involved in the development of GAL-101 and GAL-201. Alexander studied medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany, where he earned his Ph.D. in experimental pharmacology. He also holds a degree in computer science and lectures on pharmacoeconomics.
