Dr Phillips has been on the faculty of the USC Department of Ophthalmology for twenty years and spent nine years as the Director of the Division of Comprehensive Ophthalmology at the USC-Doheny Eye Institute. He graduated from Amherst College magna cum laude in chemistry and received his MD from Yale University. Dr Phillips was a Howard Hughes Scholar in 1990 in molecular immunology at the NIH.
