Barbara Wirostko, MD, FARVO

Barbara Wirostko MD, a serial entrepreneur, is the CMO and Co-founder of Qlaris Bio as well as Co-founder and Medical Advisor to MyEyes. As a board-certified practicing glaucoma specialist, Dr Wirostko is a clinician researcher with a title of Adjunct Professor in the Dept of Ophthalmology, Moran Eye Center and in the Dept of Biomedical Engineering, at the University of Utah. With more than 25 years in pharmaceutical drug and device development, Wirostko has held C suite roles as CMO, EyeGate Pharmaceuticals; co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Jade Therapeutics; CMO, Altheos, and senior leadership positions in medical clinical development at Pfizer in Ophthalmology overseeing the Xalabrands global medical franchise. Dr Wirostko sits on editorial boards including Ophthalmology Glaucoma and Acta Ophthalmology, presents internationally on exfoliation glaucoma (her research interest for over 12 yrs at Moran), as well as has published hundreds of peer-reviewed papers. She serves on various for profit and nonprofit boards including Humonix, the Joseph James Morelli Foundation, and The ARVO Foundation, sits on numerous advisory panels in glaucoma, grant review committees including California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and holds fellowship and active leadership positions with The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
