He spearheads efforts to develop strategies to maximize the foundation’s impact, including development of strategic collaborations across the vision field. Under his leadership, RPB has convened five times 30+ vision research funding organizations from across the U.S. to establish a stronger network and explore ways that they might combine resources, experience, and information for collaborative action and potential partnerships. Previously, Hofland held senior leadership positions with the National Council on Aging; AARP Foundation; The Atlantic Philanthropies; and The Retirement Research Foundation. Hofland holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Health and Human Development from the Pennsylvania State University.
