Biography

Dr Charline Gauthier has been an Executive-in-Residence with InterWest Partner’s Life Sciences team since 2008 focusing on medical device deals with an emphasis on ophthalmology. She was the Co-Founder and start up CEO of an InterWest portfolio company and serves as an advisor to several companies and entrepreneurs. Prior to joining InterWest Partners, Dr Gauthier held executive positions at medical laser companies developing products for refractive surgery. She served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Intralase Corporation until acquisition of the company by Advanced Medical Optics in 2007. She joined Intralase in 2003 as Vice President, Research, Development and Corporate Affairs. Prior to joining Intralase, she had been the Director of Clinical Affairs and COO at Autonomous Technologies in Orlando FL from 1995 to 2000. Following the acquisition of Autonomous by Summit Technology, she was promoted in 2000 to Executive Vice President and COO of Summit Autonomous, Inc. After Summit Autonomous was acquired by Alcon, Inc. in 2000, Dr Gauthier assumed the position of Vice President and General Manager of the Alcon Orlando Technology Center. Dr Gauthier began her career in the eye care field as an optometrist and spent time in both private practice and research activities in Canada and Australia.

Dr Gauthier earned her Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Waterloo in Canada, her PhD from the University of New South Wales in Australia and her MBA from Crummer Graduate School of Business, Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the Track Shack Foundation Board of Directors in Orlando, Florida.
