Biography

Daniel H. Chang, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who graduated with honors from the California Institute of Technology. He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Chang completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University and a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at Minnesota Eye Consultants. Dr. Chang is Managing Partner at Empire Eye and Laser Center, Medical Director of Empire Surgery Center, and President of Empire Management Group in Bakersfield, CA. He is a founding member and President of the board of directors for Advanced Center for Eyecare, a non-profit clinic that provides medical and surgical care to uninsured and underinsured people in Central California. He also co-founded ACE Global, a non-profit that develops and promotes sustainable eye care in underserved communities internationally.Dr. Chang has been a member of the editorial advisory board of “Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today”, since 2016. He has authored numerous articles and publications on lasers, refractive surgery, and advanced intraocular lenses. He has been principal investigator on dozens of Phase III and Phase IV FDA clinical trials. Dr. Chang lectures regularly at educational and professional meetings from the local through the international level, and he trains and advises other surgeons from the around the world on vision correction technology. For his decades of contributions to the advancement in Ophthalmology, he was recently awarded the top honors of “2017 Top Doctors List” in Bakersfield Life Magazine and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 2016.
