Biography

Darius M. Moshfeghi, MD, is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Chief of Retina at the Byers Eye Institute, Horngren Family Vitreoretinal Center, Department of Ophthalmology at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He was the founding director of the Stanford Vitreoretinal Surgery and Medical Diseases Fellowship. He is the Founder and Director of Stanford University Network for Diagnosis of Retinopathy of Prematurity (SUNDROP) and leads the Newborn Eye Screen Testing program and Global Universal Eye Screen Testing programs at Stanford University, which seek to explore the benefits of universal eye screening of normal term infants. He is actively involved in entrepreneurial activities, serving as a founder and member of the Board of Directors of Pr3vent, Promisight, Visunex, and leading the scientific advisory board for Visunex. He serves on the Board of Directors of 1800 Contacts and is actively engaged in promoting telemedicine to expand access of eye care and vision for all. He currently serves on the American Academy of Ophthalmology Telemedicine Working Group and previously sat on the ROP Telemedicine Task Force Panel. His guiding philosophy is to work with ethical, innovative people to solve important problems for society.
