Biography

H. Nida Sen, M.D., MHS is a board-certified ophthalmologist, clinical professor of ophthalmology at George Washington University and Head of Ophthalmology Strategy and Development at Sanofi Research and Development.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Sen was a Clinical Leader at Janssen Retina R&D, Johnson and Johnson and a Lasker Clinical Research Scholar, NIH Distinguished Scholar and Investigator at the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD for over a decade. At NIH, she built a clinical and translational research program and served as the Head of the Translational Ocular Immunology Laboratory, the director of the Uveitis and Ocular Immunology Clinic and the Clinical Fellowship training program.

Dr. Sen has held key leadership positions in major ophthalmology organizations, serving on important committees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and the American Ophthalmological Society (AOS). She was the President of the American Uveitis Society (AUS) and has been recognized with the Senior Achievement and Secretariat Awards of the AAO and Silver Fellows award of ARVO.

Her numerous accolades include her contributions to science in over 200 publications, many textbooks and numerous research awards. Dr. Sen continues to see patients as a Professor of Ophthalmology at the George Washington University.
