James Brandt, MD

Dr. Brandt is Professor & Vice-Chair of Ophthalmology & Vision Science at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Brandt’s clinical practice is limited to glaucoma, with a particular focus on childhood glaucoma. Dr. Brandt and collaborators in biomedical engineering recently developed microfabricated pressure sensors to measure IOP in the living eye. Dr. Brandt has served as the PI of numerous medical and surgical clinical trials – as an OHTS principal investigator, Dr. Brandt initiated the effort to measure central corneal thickness (CCT) as a potential risk factor for glaucoma. He has served in several leadership roles for the American Glaucoma Society and in 2012, he was selected to give the 13th Clinician-Scientist Lecture at the annual meeting of the AGS.
