Biography
Over the past 25 years Karl held numerous senior executive positions in both, large corporations and start-up companies. He has gained strong international experience and launched several med-tech industry-first. Karl took the role of CEO at EBS Technologies earlier this year after having served on the company’s board for more than five years. He joined EBS from Autonomic Technologies, a Silicon Valley based neuromodulation start-up where he was President International. Karl was essential in securing the company’s $43 million Round D fundraising in 2015.
Prior to Autonomic Technologies Karl spent almost ten years as Vice President for several businesses with Medtronic. In his last role, as Vice President and International General Manager he was member of the global leadership team of the company’s $2 billion neuromodulation business. Karl was in charge of all international markets, worldwide. Before joining Medtronic he served as Vice President CEE with Boston Scientific. Karl started his career in med-tech with Eli Lilly’s Medical Device Division. In 1995 he participated in the successful IPO on Nasdaq of one of Eli Lilly’s spun-off businesses that had been acquired by Bain Capital one year earlier.
Karl holds a MBA from INSEAD, a JD from the Vienna University and a MSc in Business Informatics from the Vienna University of Business and Economics.
