Retina Center of Maine
Biography
Prior to founding southern Maine’s first retina specialty practice a little over 20 years ago, Mark developed and performed the first outpatient Vitreoretinal surgery in a private Ambulatory Surgery Center in Maine. He was Director of the Retina Service at the University of Minnesota where he ran a research lab, was co-PI on several NIH funded studies, and performed surgery for patients with complex Vitreoretinal disease from across a 5 state area in the northern midwest. A Physics major at Amherst College, Mark also worked in the Morse Laser Lab at Harvard/MEEI while performing his Vitreo-retinal fellowship training, authoring the first paper on the use of semiconductor diode lasers to treat retinal disease in patients. He is currently on sabbatical from private practice medicine and exploring new opportunities.
