Biography
Melissa Jones has over a decade of experience in drug development for ophthalmology, working
both in developing novel therapeutics at the bench and in clinical trials. She received her PhD in
Biomedical Science and Translational Medicine from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she
focused on stem cell therapies in rodent models of retinal degenerative diseases. She was a
postdoctoral fellow at the Shiley Eye Institute at University of California in San Diego studying in
vitro models of retinal development and disease. Following her academic studies, she
transitioned to her current role as a clinical scientist at Genentech, where she is a clinical
scientist aiding in development of both early- and late-stage clinical trials for new therapeutics
in ophthalmology.
