Michael Kaschke, PhD
Michael Kaschke has been President and CEO of ZEISS since 2011; in 2000 he became the Executive Board Member responsible for the Medical Technology and Vision Care businesses. In this capacity he managed the IPO of Carl Zeiss Meditec (FSE:AFX) and has served as Chairman of its Supervisory Board since 2002. From 2008 to 2010 he was also CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec.
In 2014 he was appointed to the Council of Science and Humanities, which acts as advisor to the German government on science and technology. He is also a Supervisory Board Member at Deutsche Telekom, Henkel and Bosch.
Moreover, he is a part-time professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), where he gives lectures on medical technology.
Michael Kaschke earned a PhD in Physics from the University of Jena (Germany) in 1986. His research focused on topics such as the generation and application of ultra-short laser pulses. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 scientific papers.
