Michiel Rombach

Michiel Rombach founded AkkoLens in 2006 in The Netherlands. Working in partnership with Dr Aleksey Simonov, the Company has developed the Lumina, a novel accommodating intraocular lens (AIOL), currently in clinical trials.

Previously Michiel held Business Development positions with Hoya, a Japanese technology company with a European base in The Netherlands; Holland Genetics, a leading player in bovine breeding; Keygene, a Dutch-based company in plant genetics; Cosun, a Dutch sugar company, and before that with Nestle.

Michiel has a PhD in microbiology from Wageningen and an MBA from the University of Utah.
