Ophthalmology Innovation Summit Gives Nod to Successful Public Start-ups
Largest ever gathering will showcase recent IPO Companies, early stage companies and speech by Allergan’s CEO


The seventh annual Ophthalmology Innovation Summit today (OIS) will draw more than 900 clinicians, investors and executives upon the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Las Vegas for a glimpse of the world’s most exciting and promising breakthrough treatments for ophthalmology disorders.

Thirty-six companies will convene and confer with the most influential audience in ophthalmology. The must-attend event for innovators and entrepreneurs will provide invaluable advice on intellectual property protection and monetization along with indispensable financial insights from the leading venture capitalists in ophthalmology. For the first time, the conference will also host a public company showcase, giving the stage to six companies that have gone public in recent years.

Allergan has confirmed it is in merger talks with Pfizer, making possible a powerhouse that could alter one of the more venerable names in ophthalmology. This address will only be seen by OIS attendees.

Saunders will join leaders from Alcon, Valeant/Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG and Santen in the penultimate “Masters of the Universe” discussion led by Jim Mazzo, chairman and CEO of Acufocus and OIS Co-Chair Bill Link of Versant Ventures. Co-Chair Gil Kliman, MD, of InterWest Partners will close out the daylong affair.
