Dr. Pravin U. Dugel is the managing partner at Retinal Consultants of Arizona/Retinal Research Institute and founding member of Spectra Eye Institute in Sun City and Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Dugel serves as a clinical professor of ophthalmology at the Roski Eye Institute, Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Dugel has received numerous lifetime achievement awards and honors for exceptional service and contributions including the Heed Foundation Fellowship Award, The Ronald G. Michels Surgical Fellowship Award, the AAO Senior Honor Award, the AAO Honor Award, the AAO Secretariat Award, the Sally Letson Award, and USC Alumnus of the Year Award. He was named “one of the best 35 ophthalmologists in the USA” by the Becker Institute. Dr. Dugel has authored more than 200 papers, 35 book chapters and has been invited to lecture at prestigious meetings around the world and is member of the “Retina Hall of Fame.” He has served in many respected roles including service as the President and Board of Directors for the Arizona Ophthalmology Society and is a registered member of the US Department of Health and Human Services enabling him to treat communities within Native American territories. Dr. Dugel is the current Chair of Orbis International’s Medical Advisory Committee and serves on the global non-profit’s Board of Directors. He regularly participates in international humanitarian programs to teach surgical techniques to local ophthalmologists, provide free surgery for those suffering from preventable blindness and to advocate for stronger eye health care programs.
