Richard “Rick” L. Beckman, MD

Rick Beckman, M.D, is the Principal at RLB, MD Consulting, LLC where he provides expertise gained from more than 13 years in clinical practice and more than 30 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry including biologics, cell and gene therapy, small molecules, medical devices and drug/device combinations, over a broad spectrum of ophthalmic diseases. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of iSTAR Medical and Ocean Zero. He has served as the Chief Medical Officer of several companies including iSTAR, Adverum, ReNeuron, Clearside, UniLife, Ophthotech and Neurotech, as well as in senior roles at Alcon and Lux Bio and developmental roles at BD and Allergan. A Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Fellowship Trained Glaucoma Specialist, he graduated from the Integrated 6-year Pre-medical/medical Program at the University of Michigan, completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and his fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard University Medical School. He practiced for 3 years in academic medicine at North Shore University Hospital/Cornell University Medical College, and then in private practice for 10 years.
