Samuel B. Barone, MD

Dr. Barone currently serves as senior vice president, clinical development for Adverum Biotechnologies, which includes overseeing the quality assurance group. Prior to Adverum, Dr. Barone was chief medical officer for Avalanche Biotechnologies. Dr. Barone previously worked for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) while staying active as an ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon at Retina Associates, PC. Earlier in his career, Dr. Barone served on active duty as a flight surgeon for the United States Air Force. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, as well as a medical and surgical retina fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He received a BS in Biology from Boston College and MD from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.
