Susan Benton

Susan has over 30 years of experience in the life sciences industry, as an executive and entrepreneur. She has recently joined Laboratoires Thea as General Manager where she is leading the establishment and growth of the Thea business in the U.S.. Previously, she served as the Global Head of New Products and Business Development at Shire where she played an instrumental role in the expansion and development of the Ophthalmology pipeline. Before Shire, Susan led Global Business Development efforts at Bausch and Lomb Pharmaceuticals. Her deal sheet includes over 20 transactions varying in size and complexity and she has launched over 10 products. She also co-founded and served as the Chief Commercial Officer for Sirion Therapeutics, an ophthalmic biopharmaceutical start-up that developed and launched Durezol® and Zirgan® prior to their acquisition by Alcon/Novartis and Bausch and Lomb respectively. She has served as a strategic consultant for more than a dozen ophthalmic start-up companies in the areas of clinical development, strategic marketing, market access, sales, marketing, and commercial operations. Before joining the ophthalmic community, Susan worked as Head of U.S. Sales and Commercial Operations for J&J Lifescan and in Marketing & Sales for Sanofi Pasteur. Susan holds an Executive MBA from the University of South Florida and a B.S. in Biology from Muhlenberg College.
